Eye Allergy Relief Tip

Well hello there, Spring!  Thank you for the rain, the lovely thunder and the budding flowers. The bees are buzzing around and the wind is knocking the amazing pollen. Right to my nose and eyes. And this is the first year my poor daughter Lizzie is complaining about allergies too! “Mommy, my eyes are irritated!”

I am partnering with VISINE® to talk about these awful allergies and discuss solutions with you. Please chat with me in the comments with what you have found works for you!

It isn’t just you

I knew allergies were common, but I had no idea how common. In fact, an estimated 50 million Americans suffer from allergies (1 in 5 Americans).   That is a lot of people. I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that you suffer from allergies. Am I right?

What have you found to relieve your allergies? When the buds start to bloom around my (very wooded) house, my eyes water, my nose goes psycho-crazy and I just yearn for relief.     I know my symptoms are manageable, but for so many people, they can be crippling. Did you know allergies are the fifth leading chronic disease in the U.S. among all ages, and the third most common chronic disease among children under 18 years old?

Chronic disease. That is serious.

So, how do you handle your allergies?

Season allergy relief tips:

Screen Shot 2014-05-08 at 1.49.49 PMIn addition to medication, grab some VISINE®-A® Eye Allergy Relief Eye Drops to temporarily relieve itchy, red eyes due to pollen, ragweed, grass, animal hair and dander.  These are drops that have been clinically proven to relieve eye allergies! They have an antihistamine in them that is safe for children as young as six years old.

More tips for you:

  • Vacuum and dust often to reduce indoor allergens, such as dust and pet dander
  • Run the air conditioner or air filter to sift out allergens. Make sure to keep those air filters clean and replace them regularly
    • Shower after being outdoors to remove allergens that may have stuck to you. Use a sterile saline eye wash to flush allergens out ofyour eyes
    • Do not hang laundry to dry outdoors because allergens can stick to the clothes
    • Glasses and sunglasses act as a barrier or shield to minimize allergens from sticking to your eyes
    • For even more tips and hacks check out the Visine site!
